About Van Delft
A Dutch tradition
Since 2014, Van Delft has been opening seasonal pop-up stores across the Netherlands every autumn. These shops launch around September and are entirely dedicated to pepernoot—bite-sized Dutch spiced cookies traditionally associated with the Sinterklaas holiday.
In our stores, you’ll find over 50 unique flavours of these crunchy treats, ranging from classic cinnamon spice to salted caramel, truffle, and even tiramisu.
And now, starting 2025, we are available in the UK and we are very excited.
History
We are the oldest and largest factory of the most famous Dutch cookie: the pepernoot! Since 1880, we’ve been the official supplier to ‘Sinterklaas’. Of every 100 pepernoot cookies sold in the Netherlands, about 75 come from our bakery. And that’s a lot, the Dutch eat over 7 billion pepernoten every year!
In 1880, Jan van Delft founded Van Delft Biscuits in Koog aan de Zaan (The Netherlands) at the very same street where Albert Heijn (large supermarket chain in The Netherlands) opened their first shops. In 1958, the bakery relocated to its current location in Harderwijk. Van Delft was one of the first bakeries to use a conveyor belt oven for baking pepernoot cookies.
“That’s how we became the biggest and oldest pepernoot factory in the world. Growth through innovation is still our guiding principle,” says Oscar de Lange, CEO and owner. “Every year we add new products.”
